Cirencester & District League leaders Chesterton claimed the Gloucestershire Primary Cup (North) in a one-sided final at Glevum Park against Blakeney Reserves.

Chesterton took control of the game right from the start, playing some neat and fast-paced football that was too much for their North Gloucester League opponents to contend with.

The first goal arrived on 13 minutes when Tom Cox crossed from the left for Will Power to score with a thumping volley and 11 minutes later, defender Dan Bishop scored at the far post from a Josh Russell corner.

Cox added a third with an opportunist goal only a minute later and Mitch Stone added the fourth with a shot from the edge of the box after a cross from Aaron Perry had been headed out to him.

Ashley Rockley finished off a breakaway move to make it 5-0 after only 35 minutes but there was a lull in the scoring until mid-way through the second half when Joe Stratford set up Russell for the fifth.

Rockley supplied Russell to score with a neat finish before charging down a clearance from the goalkeeper for number eight.

Chesterton captain Dan Jones completed the scoring five minutes from time with a flick-header from a Power free-kick.

Blakeney kept plugging away, their best chances falling to Anthony Smith, but it was a night they will probably want to forget.
