Chesterton kicked off their pre-season campaign against a well drilled Hellenic League Malmesbury Vics side, who were coming to the end of their own summer preparations.

The match ended in a 7-2 defeat at the Corinium Stadium, with Joe Stratford and George Peare both grabbing second half goals for AFC, who went into the beak trailing 3-0.

In truth, the scoreline didn’t really reflect the state of the game, as Chesterton played some positive, passing football throughout.

Ultimately, the Vics were more clinical in front of goal – with the quality upfront showing as they took their chances.

There were some real positives to take, despite defeat, with some new faces on board. We now look ahead to Wednesday night as we prepare to take on close friends Kingshill FC.
